One Last Sockeye
Salmon Frame with black marbled mat
I did this piece after hearing about "Lonesome Larry", the single sockeye salmon that returned to its home in Idaho's Redfish Lake in 1992. A population of Sockeye are born in Redfish Lake and after several years growing, they travel to the Pacific Ocean for several more years and then find their way back to Redfish Lake to spawn. An amazing feat as it is a 900 mile trip with a 6,500 foot gain in altitude!
